Who we are
ERT (Scotland) Ltd is an independent marine environmental monitoring and environmental consultancy company. Iain Matheson and Ingeborg McNicoll set up the company in May 2000 in order to enable the successful management buy-out of the UK mainland based environmental activities of Environment & Resource Technology Ltd.
Iain Matheson, as Managing Director, leads the company.
We are based on the Research Park at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. Our facilities at this site include consultancy offices, marine biology and chemistry laboratories, a data processing unit, a report production unit together with survey equipment storage and maintenance.
ERT currently employs a multi-disciplinary team of environmental scientists, marine biologists, analytical chemists, and environmental managers and planners.
Through our predecessor organisations we have been involved with marine environment issues since 1972, originally as the Institute of Offshore Engineering, Heriot-Watt University and more recently Environment & Resource Technology Ltd. This long experience means we have staff recognised for their skills and competence by regulators, peers and industry specialists.
